Oily Hair Shampoo - What it does and what it doesn't

UPDATE (5/5/13):I've added a star because the company now makes this product available for bulk purchase through a different distribution channel.Also, they've since added jojoba and argan oils.*********************************This is probably the only honest review here. None of these reviews were very descriptive - the five star ones were lengthy and questionable, and the one stars give all signs that they were planted by a competing company. Here's what this product comes down to:As a practicing dermatologist for over twelve years, I'd say that in my experience, more patients have come to me with scalp problems than any other. I give them a routine checklist, and can usually tell if the problem is externally or internally induced. There are tell-tale signs that someone is not aware of weather-protection or the practice of massaging the fingers deep to get the dirt out.Bottom line is, "oily" hair is a very common.and misunderstood affliction. Generally, it's either greasy hair/greasy scalp or dry hair/greasy scalp. Over 90% of the common factors are hormonal, genetical, or the #1 cause-scalp negligence. This is the only cause for dry hair/greasy scalp, and many people have been using five-dollar shampoos and conditioners loaded with ineffective ingredients. A dermatologist appointment is much more expensive than buying a good shampoo-it's pure negligence.Now about the product. I made sure to contact the company and inquire about the ingredients. I'm familiar with natural treatments, and had to make sure this isn't a shampoo that outlines the problems but doesn't offer the necessary treatment. The formula contains cypress, basil, rosemary and lemon. Lemon is cleansing - that's a check - but when it comes to Rosemary, most shampoos use the wrong kind. What makes these oils work is their chemical composition, and depending on location, the constituents vary. They use Rosemary that has the terpene verbenone, which is what improves circulation. I can't tell you how many rosemary shampoos make the mistake of using Rosemary rich in cinenole and little verbenone - which doesn't help the scalp, but is supposed to do wonders for your liver.I know the therapeutic benefits of basil, but I'm not sure why they include cypress. It may be for some synergistic result. (UPDATE 5/5/13: I've been informed that it helps with broken capillaries) Either way, I decided to distribute this to patients to see if it's a shampoo worth giving my recommendation.Out of twenty three patients, nineteen told me the problem was solved (after reusing with following the instructions. It's often overlooked but important). It did nothing for the other four, and three of those four had dry hair and oily scalp.I'm giving this shampoo is a four star rating because it's1) Effective2) Has a pleasant aroma3) Over time, works the gears in the scalp to take care of the problem. But I'm taking off two stars off for these reasons:4) It's not in any stores in my area, so when I recommend it to a patient they have to order it online, an inconvinience for some.5) Revised - it is now available for bulk purchase.All in all, I recommend this to most clients who have greasy hair/greasy scalp. Sebum secretion is something many shampoos fail to heal, but this one succeeds. A message to the company, though: Give an option for bulk purchases! Buying individually is something most companies offer an alternative to. It only makes sense to save money by buying large quantities.

Great Stuff!!

I've tried way too many all-in-one shampoos and ended up with the same head of hair and a few dollars short. The shampoo that were geared towards oily hair of other brands were to strong and left rashes on my scalp and made it itchy if I used it more then twice a week, using it once only kept my hair oily-free for about a day...Personally, I use degrease because that's what works for my hair type, I started noticing less-oilier hair on day one but more of an effect after two weeks. It leaves my hair really smooth and not all dry but I started to eat more healthy around this time and I think that contributed as well.Degrease is the best-bang-for-your-buck treatment I've come across (and it has got a nice scent to it), because I actually fit its description and it doesn't have any negative side-effects on me. The fact that it uses healthier ingredients is a plus (that's probably why I don't get rashes), but the bottom line is, if you're going to spend a decent amount of money for a hair product then make sure it's right for you...

This product is everything it says it is. I have very greasy hair and I am always looking for something to remedy the situation without drying. I admit I was concerned at first about using something called a "degreaser," as I was certain I would end up with horse hair. It just sounds harsh. However, it was not drying at all. In fact, I did not even use condition for the simple fact that I wanted to get the full effect of the product unencumbered by anything else. It turns out conditioner was not even needed.I also have very thin, flat hair, so I was concerned about the tradeoff of switching to this and leaving behind my volume building shampoo and conditioner. This was another needless worry. I simply used this product as instructed and styled as normal using my other regular products and my hair was full, soft, and manageable.In the past when I have tried these types of products they have smelled terrible and they would sting my scalp. I became especially worried about stinging when I realized the instructions said to leave it on for 2 or 3 minutes. However, there was no stinging sensation and the scent was herbal and pleasant.In the end, I have to recommend this product. My scalp does not itch nearly as much, and my hair is definitely not a greasy. This is a product that does what it says.
