I can be pretty obsessive about my hair which is funny since I don't actually do anything to style it. I don't color it, perm it, or even use styling products although I probably should. I have long dark straight hair that's wash and go, but it's also easily affected by the elements. My one and only goal is for it to look healthy. I don't get the point of having really long hair that's all frayed, split, and flyaway. It just doesn't look good to me, just because it's long, and I admit it's my biggest pet peeve.My scalp tends to range from oily to dry based on the weather, it gets easily sunstreaked, my ends get pretty course within a month of a haircut, and I'm lucky if I even blow dry it since I hate putting the added stress on it. Dealing with split ends was a lifetime battle and I used to sit at my desk with a pair of scissors and simply snip at the splits one by one. If I used a curling iron, I knew I'd need a trim after to cut away the damage and the bottom half of the growth was almost reddish compared to the almost black at the roots, but that was all before Alterna 10.This is easily the best shampoo and conditioner that money can buy and I can honestly say that I felt the difference after my first use of this product. Although likely designed for celebrities based on the price, which I am definitely not, I figured I'd try anything once and was completely hooked. My hair's thickness actually felt different and I could tell that the strands were actually retaining the moisture. I haven't had a split end for over three years, since I started using this product and because of my busy schedule, I can go about 6 months and not worry about getting a trim. It stays shiny, survives heat processing like a champ and makes my hair easily look ten years younger.Although it was crazy expensive when introduced to the market, the price at amazon is unbeatable at about half it's retail price and the 33 oz size lasts me almost about a year. If you do the math, it's definitely not more than salon brand products and there's no comparison since I've tried them all. There are other shampoos which probably smell better depending on your taste, but this has a light herbal fresh scent as opposed to floral, which is no wonder based on the ingredients. If you do give it a try, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

There is none better.I have never seen hair treated better then with this product.It is a pricey one time investment,but in the long run worth every penny you will pay.The 33 oz set will actually cost you less than the many bottles of store bought brands you will have to buy to equal.you will definitely not get the same quality from the store bought brands.

Pros: One of the best products ever, makes hair super healthy and soft.Cons: Pricey, but larger sizes and the fact that a little goes a LONG way offsets this.Hair products are a little out of my area of expertise, but I was fortunate enough to have discovered Alterna a couple of years ago when a friend of mine received a case of all their products after doing some work with them. He's bald...so yeah, ironic gift...but it worked out well for me, ha.Of all their products, the Ten line stood out as one of the best shampoos and conditioners I've ever used. I have thick, curly hair that can become a bit unmanageable. I found the Ten line to not only cut down on tangles and friz, but it leaves my hair incredibly soft and smooth. I imagine that this is a dream product for women with shoulder-length or longer hair - there's really no way to explain how much better this product is than other luxury shampoos.The con to Alterna Ten is the price. For value shoppers, you'll want to check out the 33.8 oz / 1 liter size. It has four times the product for about 25% more money than the 8 oz bottles, and brings the price down immensely, pretty much in line with other high-end brands. A shampoo/conditioner liter duo set can save you even more, and often pop up on Amazon. This much can be a big commitment, but I've seen Alterna Ten sample packets...maybe try finding one of these first. Even one use shows how awesome this product is.NOTE: Having mentioned that this is an expensive shampoo/conditioner, I also have to point out that it is very, very condensed. A dime-size dot of the shampoo is MORE than enough for my medium-length guy's hair, and just a half pump of the conditioner is sufficient. My liter bottles therefore last me 18 months plus (no kidding), again massively offsetting the cost. I use about half as much Alterna Ten as Bumble & Bumble or the other brands I've had.Overall, Alterna has created a heck of a product in their Ten line. It's a spendy item, but considering how much time and money people tend to put into their hair it's probably a worthwhile investment, and the larger salon sizes help keep the cost reasonable.
